So here I am, sat in my dressing gown, with horrible greasy oil all over my hair, a red face and a body that feels like I have fire all over it!
Today is not a good day! Not only is it the first day of half term and it's pouring with rain but we have had yet another visit from the little hair bugs that were all not suppose to talk about.
The kids hair is easy to treat, being so young their hair is still really fine, one wizz over with the comb and the one nit they have is gone. Mine however is another story. I think I've worked it out the kids are just the carriers. They innocently bring the little buggers home who then set up camp in my hair! My hair is thick, really thick a perfect home.

Oh the joys of motherhood!
vodka is the answer! And no you don't get to drink it all! Soak your hair in vodka once a fortnight and it acts as not only a chemical free killer but it keeps them at bay in between times (Tesco value stuff works just grand - save the good stuff for the tonic and ice!). We also found that the Alberto Balsam Tea tre tingle shampoo and conditioner was very helpful. Not only calmed the itchy head but made it easy to comb through! good luck! Brewers yeast tablets or garlic capsules help as a deterrent too. It's certainly one of the the crappier parts of parenthood!
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame I got excited then, I had visions of a 'get rid of the lice cocktail party', lol. I shall have to give Vodka a go and I've just started using tea tree shampoo. Thanks for your comment x
DeleteGood luck getting it out. My cousin is just like you. She has SO much hair and nits love her for it. I think shes had them about 8 times so far.
ReplyDeleteOh no that's bad, I haven't had them that much yet *fingers crossed* x
DeleteAnd now of course, I'm scratching my head! I have escaped ever catching them myself as yet......apparently, use a conditioner with tea tree oil in it, helps to keep them at bay - good luck!
ReplyDeleteHa that always happens when someone mentions the word nits. You're lucky to not of caught them x
DeleteAfter seven years of the nit menace rearing its ugly head over and over again (can they please please bring back the nit nurse) I've found my favourite, least expensive and easiest way to get the little buggers off of my 3 girls heads is with the Nitty Gritty comb.
ReplyDeleteThey've all got thick hair but the comb is really long so it gets all of it and not just the ones close to the scalp, it even removes the eggs. When I spot a nit we just wash hair every day for a week or two and use liberal amounts of spray on leave in conditioner before combing.
The comb is a bit expensive for a nit comb (I think I paid a tenner for mine) but I've had 5/6 years of use out of it and it's still going strong
Good luck!
I brought one of those Nitty Gritty combs and it's fab. It's the only thing that works through my hair. They are expensive but so worth it x
