Old, Matured, Aged, Along in Years, Not Young!

This weeks Gallery theme is Old...

This was awarded to my Great Grandfather in 1961. It reads...

'Having made valuable and significant contributions to World Air Transport and to the furtherance of international understanding [G.G name] is hereby appointed to membership in the Clipper Club' - Pan American

As I seem to be the 'un-official' family historian this has been handed down to me by my Father.
I have tried to research the Clipper Club but there doesn't appear to be much information on it. As far as I can gather though it was a sort of first class lounge at airports. If anyone else knows anything about it I'd love to hear it.

Cute in Yellow

We seem to have so much going on at the moment that I just can't find any spare time to blog :-( but I have managed to snatch some time to join in with this weeks Gallery.

This weeks theme is ... YELLOW.

This is my all time favourite picture of our son. It was taken when he was 5 months old, which now feels like a life time ago. I just love his expression in it.

What happens at 8pm?

So this weeks theme for the Gallery is 8pm.
You see the light brown sofa in this picture, that is where I am at 8pm. Usually with a glass of vino in hand and more often than not a big bar of chocolate.

This room is a child free zone, there are no plastic things that sing the same annoying song over and over again. There are no sticky finger marks all up the patio door. There are no bits of lego to step on in bare feet. This is an adult room, the only adult room in the house and I love it!

This is my little haven at the end of the day where I can sit for more than 5 minutes without having to get up and change a pooey nappy, get someone a drink or referee the latest fight that has broken out over some toy that neither of them have played with in months but now that the other one has it they simple must play with it.

This is 8pm and it's adult time!

The Gallery - Sky

This weeks theme for the Gallery is 'Sky'.

This picture was taken a few years ago in mine and the other halfs 'special place'. It is one of the most beautiful places that I have been to in this country.
We haven't been back there since the kiddies have been born and now that we live on the other side of the country I don't think we'll be getting back there anythime soon. *sob sob* Oh well we will just have to find a new special place and at least we have some good pictures to remember it.

On another note sorry about the serious lack of posts the last couple of weeks, I've been going out a lot with the little ones to try and keep them entertained during the holidays, roll on September.

Emotions Are High

When I saw that this weeks theme for the Gallery was 'Emotion' I knew exactly which photo I would use...

My son had always been really well behaved, he was quite layed back and use to just get on with things. No terrible twos in our house and then he turned 3! It was like a switch was flicked on the minute he woke up on his 3rd birthday. I went from having a cute, lovable little 2 year old to having a screaming, possessed 3 year old.

This picture was one of many tantrums on that particular day which resulted in me doing something that I'd never normally do. (You can read about that here).

Delicate

I really struggled to find a picture for this weeks theme for the Gallery and then I came across this one. I loved this when I saw it and just had to take a picture of it. I wanted to try it at home with my two but just haven't had the time, maybe now the sun is  starting to make its presence felt we will have a go. Just have to find me some willow now!

The Gallery - Food

This weeks theme for the Gallery is Food. My favourite subject, I love food!
I use to only love eating it but now I also love making it thanks to the help of my wonderful other half (he's a great teacher).

As much as I would like to take credit for this lovely plate of nosh, I can't.
I had this about 4 years ago (pre kiddies) in one of my most favourite places The Wookey Hole Inn.
The food was amazing and the bedrooms are fabulous. Each room is different with it's own unique twist.
We haven't been back there for ages, what with having the children, moving and everything else that seems to take up daily life.
I have heard that it's under new managment so I just pray that they haven't changed a thing and hopefully we will get back there some day, especially now that we live much closer. It would be a great place for a proposal *cough* hint to the OH  *cough*.

The Gallery - The Everyday

If I could give one bit of advice to anyone expecting a child it would be this...

If you are going to introduce something into the bedtime routine, whether it be reading a story, singing a song or putting their favourite toys to bed, I strongly suggest that you think very carefully about what it is because you will be doing it again and again and again 'everyday' for the next few years!

We made this mistake with LJ with her beloved animals.
She has a pocket tidy in her bedroom and each pocket fits one animal in. So one day just before bed I showed her how to put them in and said 'Goodnight animals'. Little did I know that this one off game was going to become a regular occurrence, every night from then on in.
The problem is people keep buying her new animals, so this little routine is getting longer and longer every night!
I'm thinking that some of the animlas might just have to get 'lost'. I know mean Mummy.

The Gallery - Hands

This weeks theme for the Gallery over at Tara's blog Sticky Fingers is 'Hands'.

I knew straight away which picture I wanted to use for this . I have used this picture previously on my blog so apologies if you have already seen it, I just think it's funny.

This is Bob and he spends his life in the chubby, slighty sticky, hands of my 1 year old. She wouldn't even let him go for me to take his picture. You can find out more about Bob's story and how he came into our lives here (if you're interested that is).

The Gallery - Family

I have very little time this week so unfortunately my blog is taking a bit of a break but I'll try and put some pictures up. Everything will be back to normal next week I promise.

So this weeks theme for the Gallery over at Tara's blog Sticky Fingers is... FAMILY.

I have chosen a picture of my Grandmother, (my father's mother).
She died when I was 5 so I never really got to know here properly but I do have lots of gorgeous photos of her and this is one of them...

The Gallery - Sunshine

So this weeks theme for The Gallery is Sunshine.
Well I don't know about you but we've had plently of that down here the last couple of weeks, it's been ace!
I can feel my serotonin levels increasing already, (which had seriously depleted with the never ending Winter which we've seemed to of had this year).

My entry this week isn't a picture of the sun or the sun shinning onto something but rather something that happens when the sun is out and which is a source of never ending amusment for little ones.

The Gallery - Picture Perfect

This weeks theme for The Gallery is 'Picture Perfect', so here is my entry...

Even though this picture was taken on a disposable camera, it is my all time favourite.
I was working on a straw bale house in Italy at the time and I had a day off and decided I had to go to Venice. I went on my own and it was totally terrifying but the most amazing day ever.
I managed to navigate my way around the whole of Venice and spent the day in awe of all the amazing architecture.
I just wish I had had a better camera at the time, oh well I'll just have to get the OH to take me back there one day *cough* subtle hint if you are reading this *cough*

The Gallery - Morning

This weeks theme for the Gallery is 'Morning'. As soon as I read that I knew which picture I would use, (yes another picture of one of my children, sorry about that).

I am not a morning person by any stretch, infact as far as I'm concerned mornings are the work of the Devil. However with having kids I have, inevitably, had to get use to them.
The best thing for me in the mornings now is hearing Lj's little voice calling "Mummy, Mummy" from the confines of her cot. I then go into her room to find her standing upright with a big beaming smile because she is so happy to see you. With all her hair stuck to her face with snot and dribble from the night before. Lovely! She then puts her arms up for a cuddle and tucks herself in under my chin and won't let go, just so she can catch up on any cuddles she's missed during the 12 or so hours that she's been asleep.

It's moments like that, that remind you what being a Mummy is all about.

The Gallery - Colour

This weeks theme for the Gallery is colour.
I really struggled with this one and thought I'd skip this week and then I found this photo...
This photo was taken on Torquay seafront at the end of last summer, just after we moved to the West Country.
We had only just brought our new camera and we were still getting used to using it.
I really love the colours in this picture and the beautiful flowers, looking forward to the summer again now.
