Step Away from the Hairdryer!

I have a confession to make...

'I hate having my hair done'.

Quite frankly I find the whole experience a complete and utter nuisance.
You go and tell them what you want and then they do the exact opposite.
I know my hair, I have lived with it for the last 27 years after all, I know what it likes and I know what it doesn't like but for some reason this girl standing behind me thinks that because she has know my hair for all of about 5 minutes she knows whats best for it.

Let me explain better, my hair is curly, infact curly isn't the right word for it, my hair is a thick tangled mane of crazyiness. I have finally, after much experimenting when I was younger, resigned to the fact that it cannot and will not be tamed. It does what it wants when it wants and I could spend my life fighting it or I could just live the quiet life and let it get on with it.

So you can understand why when I go into a salon I am only there for one reason and one reason only and that is to have a significant amount of it lobbed off to make it slighlty more managble. No I do not what to know about the latest free from frizz product, No I do not what to discuss the weather or where I am going on holiday this year and unless you are thinking of entering me into the next 'best bolognese dog competition', then keep that hairdryer away from me!

I clearly lack the female hormone that makes me enjoy pampering, maybe it's my tomboy side of me coming out again. Am I alone in this or do you also avoid hairdressers like the plague?
Now I must go I have to spend the next couple of hours washing out the copious amount of products from my hair!

  1. I have long (waist length), poker straight hair. I have always either cut it myself or had my mum or a friend do it. On the handful of occassions I've been to the hairdressers and asked for a trim they have completely ignored me and tried to give me a bob instead (why)?! As my hair won't curl under at the ends I am generally left with what can only be described as a hideous "bowl cut" type hairstyle. Which it takes months to grow out! I like the idea of having my hair done, but in reality I find it infuriating and traumatic!

    1. The only good thing about it is the head massage, now that's lush. I'll skip the rest though x

  3. I sympathise - my hair is curly too and I have spent the last 35 years longing for shiny straight swishy hair! I do like going to the hairdressers though as at least I get a break from the kids ha ha!

    1. I must admit it was nice to have half an hour of peace, well that's if you can drown out the sound of the inane drivel coming out of the hairdressers mouth. They must get taught to ask the same set of questions to each customer. lol x

  5. I avoid hairdressers not so much because my hair is especially demanding to take care of, but just because I feel like it's a HUGE waste of money!
I'm not a huge cheapo in general, but I am thrifty, and I feel like with a little time, ingenuity and a steady hand with some sharp scissors, I can do what needs to be done to my tresses right here in my own home for free!

    1. I totally agree the prices are just crazy! All I had was a cut, nothing else, and it was £15.50. That's 3 dinners in our house! My friend use to cut it for me for a fiver, I don't mind paying that x
